The Brazilian iron & steel company Zamprogna has decided to work with stainless steel in its services center for the processing of flat steel, set up in Guarulhos (Sao Paulo). The unit, recently inaugurated demanded investments of R$30mil. The Sao Paulo-based unit used to process carbon steel. The company expects a turnover of R$3.5mil as of May 2004 and R$5mil within six months. With carbon steel, producing the same mix, Zamprogna turned over R$18mil in March. The facility had a production capacity of 6,500 m tons per month, that increases to 15,000 m tons with the new unit. Zamprogna will also expand the production of tubes. The company leads the Brazilian carbon steel tubes market and ranks 2nd in the stainless steel tubes market. With an investment of US$3mil in the import of a new line from Italy, the company ...
