SEOUL, April 1 Asia Pulse - South Korean broadband Internet service providers said today they were offering promotions to attract subscribers amid a nationwide online learning drive targeting high school students.
The move is timed with the April 1 launch of a government-led e-learning campaign that provides downloadable and streamed video education files via the Internet for students preparing for college entrance exams and is aimed at reducing the ever-growing amount spent by South Koreans on private tutoring.
A high-speed, always-on Internet connection is necessary to download the one- to two-hour online tutoring programs within a reasonable time, according to the Internet service providers.
