SINGAPORE, April 1 Asia Pulse - The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) has unveiled a new Collaborative High-Tech Manufacturing Plan.
Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts Lee Boon Yang explained at the opening of the E-Business Connections 2004 exhibition and seminar Tuesday that the plan will eventually save factories in Singapore some S$700 million (US$416 million) a year through increased efficiency and help generate S$2 billion in additional revenues.
High-tech manufacturers in Singapore face stiff challenges such as outsourcing, lower-cost bases in mainland China, and the growing need to bring products to the market quickly, Lee explained.
