TAIWANESE NOTEBOOK PCS TO GAIN 70% OF WORLD OUTPUT IN 2004
TAIPEI - Taiwan's output of notebook personal computers is expected to top 32 million units this year, grabbing a dominating 70 per cent of the entire world market of such increasingly popular products, the non-profit Institute for Information Industry (III) reported Tuesday.
Continuing to be the leading manufacturing country of notebook PCs, Taiwan churned out more than 18 million units in 2002 and substantially increased to 25 million units in 2003, said Chiang Fang-yun, a chief product analyst of the III.
