A new international think-tank has been set up to look at the risks posed by the global economy.

The think-tank has been created by the UK-based International Cooperative & Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF), in co-operation with the Centre Europeen de Prevention des Risques.

Some of the areas that it will examine include the risks posed by new developments like genetically modified food, the rise of nanotechnology and computer-generated risks.

Global, as opposed to local, problems will be examined by the think-tank, along with the development of solutions to new risks. Some of the latter include problems deriving from computer technology, such as identity theft and computer-generated forgeries, which are ...
