Senegal gets IMF, World Bank approval for debt relief under HIPC.

Dakar, Senegal (PANA) - The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank's International Development Association (IDA) have vouched for Senegal's attainment of the Completion Point for debt relief under the enhanced Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) initiative.

A statement issued Tuesday by the Bretton Woods institutions noted that Senegal becomes the 12th country to reach this point, after Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Guyana, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Niger, Tanzania and Uganda.
