The positive note on which the disarmament of combatants resumed last week has prompted definite and strong comments from the International Contact Group on Liberia (ICGL), indicating that the date for the return to constitutional democratic governance remains unchangeable.

Ghana's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nana Akufo-Addo said Presidential democratic rule in Liberia is irreversible and that the date for democratic rule begins on January 15, 2006.

Mr. Akufo-Addo warned that the ICGL will not accept any plans to prolong what he calls, "the interregnum."

He cautioned that any Liberian harboring a postponement of the elections in October next year, and a subsequent prolonging of the current interim political process, should divorce …
