Physicians can now resume ordering tetanus-diphtheria vaccine but should limit its use to wound care and other priority indications until the end of the summer.
Aventis Pasteur has increased its supply of Tetanus and Diphtheria Toxoids Adsorbed for Adult Use (Td) in sufficient quantities to allow office-based physicians to order it for priority use in adolescents and adults. But routine boosters should still be deferred until late summer, when the supply is expected to be back to normal, the company advised in a statement.
