Daily low-dose aspirin may reduce recurrences of colorectal adenomas, the precursor lesion of colorectal cancer, Dr. John A. Baron reported at the annual meeting of the American Association of Cancer Research.
In a study of 1,121 patients who had at least one adenoma removed within 3 months of entering the study, a daily 80-mg dose of aspirin decreased the relative risk of recurrent adenomas by 19%, compared with the risk seen in patients who took a placebo.
