KUALA LUMPUR, Sat. - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi sent letters to leaders of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan calling for the immediate cessation of all hostilities in Iraq.

Abdullah said Malaysia, as chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Organisation of theIslamic Conference (OIC), would like to see "peace and stability in all parts of Iraq".

The combined membership of the two organisations accounts for 66 per cent of UN membership which totals 191.
