KUALA LUMPUR, Thurs. - A journalist fell victim to the notorious puncture- and-rob gang, 48 hours after police arrested 10 foreigners linked to such crimes.
Berita Harian's Othman Mamat was on his way to Bank Pertanian in Jalan Tun Perak when the incident occurred about 11am.
He had slowed down at a traffic light junction when he realised one of his tyres was flat.
Having pulled over by the road shoulder, he alighted and as he was getting ready to change the tyre, another car stopped behind his van.
One of the two occupants alighted, and seconds later the journalist realised an envelope containing RM18,000 in the car was missing.
He lodged a report at the Dang Wangi police headquarters in Jalan Stadium.
