The Massachusetts Supreme Court's view of equality is hopelessly flawed. Gays and lesbians already enjoy equal marriage rights: All have the right to marry one member of the opposite sex. The complaint of gays and lesbians, of course, is that they have no use for this right.
A lack of interest in their existing right, however, does not entitle them to a new, compensating right to same sex marriage.
No supreme court, in Massachusetts or otherwise, has the authority to create a new right to same sex marriage. The legitimate way to create any new right is through a Constitutional amendment. The onus should have been on gay rights activists to pass an amendment to legalize gay marriage.
That process would have resulted in a decision that considered all the people's views, not just those of a handful of politically correct justices. The judges' end run around the Massachusetts constitution represents the highest of crimes, and it is time to impeach them.

I am ready to be convinced by Patrick Moore that genetically modified crops can be used safely, but "The Green Case for Biotech" (March), fell far short of being conclusive.
