Not much notice goes to junior varsity coaches, mostly because they don't have the visibility of their varsity brethren.
This isn't the case at Venice High, where Pete Dombroski is finishing up his 13th year as the head JV baseball coach.
Last week, Dombroski hit a milestone by winning his 200th game with an 8-2 victory over Sarasota. His overall record is 200-99.
"To be here that long is something," said Dombroski. "The whole time you think about all the kids you ever coached and the coaches who helped you."
But why stay as JV coach so long?
