The baseball season has begun. Your chance to join a fantasy league has passed you by. When the dog days hit and your favorite team is buried in the standings, your interest in the season will fade, and you will curse yourself for not signing up for a fantasy team.

Hold back the tears a second, Mr. Softy. It's too late to get credit for the season-opening games in Japan, but there still are more than 2,400 other games to come. SPORTING NEWS' Draft & Trade leagues will continue to be formed right up to the U.S. openers, and it's never too late to form your Ultimate Fantasy Baseball team.

A few players to keep an eye on or to avoid:

Bargains

Matt Morris, SP, Cardinals. Morris can become a free agent after the season, and the Cards can only dream about locking him up for a price close to his Ultimate Fantasy salary ($4.81 million). Fifty-one starting pitchers have a higher price tag. Good luck finding even 20 of them who are better than Morris.
