TOP PARTY POSTS NEED NOT BE CONTESTED- SHAHRIR.

JOHOR BAHARU, April 4 (Bernama) -- Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Shahrir Samad said today there is no reason for contests for the posts of Umno president and deputy president as Malaysians have already given their strong support for Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in last month's general election.
The party is part of society and hence its view should be in line with that of the people and society at large, he said.
"I do not see any problem for Umno in giving its support to Pak Lah and Najib," he told reporters after presiding at the Universiti Putra Malaysia …
