Samsung Shows First 40-in. Panel.(Samsung Semiconductor's TFT LCD panel)
Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. (3655 N. First St., San Jose, CA 95134; Tel: 800/423-7364, Fax: 408/544-4919), demonstrated the world's first 40-in. TFT LCD panel for use in high-performance, wide-screen digital TVs at the SID show in Boston. It is the largest TFT-LCD panel ever produced.
The 40-in. WXGA resolution panel utilizes Samsung's patented Patterned Vertical Alignment (PVA) technology, optimized for digital broadcast reception.
