Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. (3655 N. First St., San Jose, CA 95134; Tel: 800/423-7364, Fax: 408/544-4919), demonstrated the world's first 40-in. TFT LCD panel for use in high-performance, wide-screen digital TVs at the SID show in Boston. It is the largest TFT-LCD panel ever produced.

The 40-in. WXGA resolution panel utilizes Samsung's patented Patterned Vertical Alignment (PVA) technology, optimized for digital broadcast reception. PVA technology provides a fast 12 ms response time which enables the display to fully support moving pictures at V viewing rates and offers a wide, 170-degree conical viewing angle, a high-contrast ratio exceeding 600 : 1, a high- screen …
