The Asahi Shimbun Citing safety concerns, the president of the real estate developer Mitsubishi Estate Co. said Tuesday his firm will consider removing all revolving doors from its buildings
Shigeru Takagi's comment followed the death last week of a 6-year-old boy who was crushed in a revolving door in a company building at the Roppongi Hills complex in Tokyo
Takagi said there had been 12 accidents involving revolving doors at two of his firm's buildings-the Marunouchi Building in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, and the Yokohama Landmark Tower in Yokohama's Nishi Ward
``I don't think revolving doors will ever be 100 percent safe,'' he said
In total, 19 automatic revolving doors are installed in Mitsubishi Estate buildings. Most of the doors were, like the one in which the boy, Ryo Mizokawa, was killed last Friday, were manufactured by Tajima Junzo Co., he said
The 19 doors have been shut down since Saturday
