Liberal MLA Vicki Dunne is likely to face censure by the Legislative Assembly this morning over her distribution of flyers at the Belconnen Markets promoting the construction of an Aldi supermarket.Labor Caucus will meet at 9.30am to discuss the issue and backbencher John Hargreaves will ask his colleagues for their support for a censure of Mrs Dunne.
Mrs Dunne, who chaired the Planning and Environment Committee looking at whether Aldi should be allowed to build a supermarket in Belconnen, was found this week to be in contempt of the Assembly over the flyers.
A privileges committee found that she had compromised the committee's work by trying to influence the community's submissions on the issue.
Mrs Dunne said on Tuesday that she had simply been trying to inform the public of the issue and had no intention of steering the direction of the outcome.
The committee recommended in its report that no further action be taken over the contempt, but Mr Hargreaves said yesterday the community's faith in the integrity of the committee ...
