In his six years at John James Memorial Hospital, Darren Leseberg has taken full advantage of flexible work practices.
He's had three stints of paternity leave, and worked part time, after hours and at weekends. He works as the accounts receivable team leader and even now if he has to slip out to pick up the kids or attend a school function, both he and his employer know the job will still be done.
As an operational team leader with the Australian Federal Police, Susan Ball has adapted her working week to best suit the needs of her young family. With a four-year-old and two-year- old, and a husband who is also in the AFP, Ms Ball now works a compressed week of four nine-hour shifts.
