BAKIPUR (Tarn Taran): A pall of gloom descended on Bakipur, the native village of Angrej Singh who lost his life after the police opened fire to disperse agitating farmers at Manawala railway station on Monday evening.
Anger writ large on the faces of over 10,000 farmers and other villagers gathered at Bakipur to pay their tributes to Angrej Singh. Angrej Singh is survived by his wife Amarjit Kaur, two years old daughter Luvjeet and four years old son Gurjant who lit the pyre.
Political leaders like Tarlochan Singh Tur and Prem Singh Lalpura attended the funeral ceremony.
The agitating farmers lifted their dharna from Manawala railway station at around 10:30 am on Tuesday to attend the funeral ceremony.
