Australia's involvement in America's Son of Star Wars program would not protect the country from all forms of missile attack, the Defence Force said.

A Defence submission to a parliamentary inquiry into Australia's military ties with the United States said the Government did not believe the missile-defence program would threaten regional security as it was a defensive system designed to discourage other countries from investing in ballistic missiles. However, it would not be able to protect the entire country.
