IN THIS election year, some parties and candidates insist in offering tax-cuts.

I for one, do not want tax cuts. I want tax increases.

I do not want tax money spent in sending Australian soldiers to the other side of the world to kill people who have done nothing wrong to us, but I do want the dole to be good enough for those who do not have a job (by choice or otherwise) to stay home smoking and watching TV, or to go to a pub to have a beer, instead of breaking and entering homes or vandalising somebody else's property (CT Letters, March 29).

I do not want hospital waiting lists: I want to be able to go to a public hospital when I need it, not when ''the system'' allows me to.

I want the police to be readily available for small and big problems.

I want good public ...
