WE ARE the parents of Andrew Wood, who committed suicide in the ACT on June 24 last year.

Our story has been featured in recent articles by The Canberra Times about the mental health crisis in the ACT.

Like many, we have been saddened by the high rate of suicide in the ACT and the apparent inability of a poorly resourced system to prevent it.

We put our son into the care of that system and it failed him.

We wanted to share our story to give a human face to the pain these tragedies cause.

Our family has been shattered.
