(From Canberra Times)
There has been a lot of debate over the preseason about which club has the best list of youngsters.
The Cats came out and said they did with the likes of Gary Ablett junior and Cameron Ling.
Others suggest St Kilda does with Nick Riewoldt, Luke Ball, Lenny Hayes, Brendon Goddard and co.
Certainly those two clubs have had early picks in the national draft recently so you'd expect them to have some quality youngsters on their list.
But the strength of any list is always open to debate because most clubs rate their youngsters highly; you wouldn't draft them if you didn't believe they had potential.
And history shows that players picked up later in the draft can just surprise you. It's not always the early picks who go on to be stars.
