(From Canberra Times)
There was plenty of feeling in yesterday's second-round match between Australian Peter Luczak and Switzerland's Michael Lammer at the Australian Men's Claycourt Championship at Lyneham.
It might not have been quite the equal of that memorable Davis Cup match between their compatriots Lleyton Hewitt and Roger Federer but both players wanted the win just as badly.
Polish born but Melbourne raised, the 209-ranked and fourth-seeded Luczak was pushed all the way in a grinding three set 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) win over his 21-year-old opponent.
For anyone passing by the Lyneham tennis centre yesterday morning they might have thought Hewitt was playing inside.
As the 24-year-old Luczak slowly started to get on top of his Swiss opponent he let fly with the occasional Lleyton style ''c'mon!'' mixed in with the occasional Pat Rafter-ish ''sorry, mate'' when he won a point off a net cord.
Up 3-0 in the third set the cries of ''c'mon'' were getting both louder and more frequent as the Melbournian got more fired up.
