Their Australian Basketball Association season is only five games old, but the Canberra Gunners have set an ambitious goal to remain unbeaten at their ''real home'' - Belconnen Basketball Stadium.
The Gunners have been splitting home games between Tuggeranong and Belconnen in recent seasons but a lost sponsorship means the Gunners will now play exclusively on the northside. The Gunners have not been beaten at Belconnen since 2002, a winning streak extending 10 games.
The Gunners have won all three home games this season - two at Tuggeranong - but they intend to add to their fine record at Belconnen when they play host to the Frankston Blues on Saturday night.
''If we can maintain a perfect record at home this year and pick up our record on the road we could finish the season in a good position,'' Gunners coach Brad Barnes said. ''We train at Belconnen. It really is our home and we feel comfortable there.'' Defending East Conference champions the Gunners have made an inconsistent start to the season, lying third with a 3-2 record.
Frankston is yet to win a game this season.
