CHARLOTTE COUNTY -- Close friends Justin Bare and Matthew Gonzalez set out on a long ride home Monday afternoon, heading to the state's east coast after finishing a job in Bradenton.

The business trip, one of many the men had taken in the past year, turned deadly near mile marker 160 on Interstate 75. They were about 150 miles from their homes. Authorities say Gonzalez, the driver, veered into the median, attempted to correct and lost control of the 2001 Ford pickup in which the men were traveling.
