GLOBE Telecom Inc. is the only Philippine company that may get a credit rating or outlook upgrade from Standard & Poor's this year, according to a recent report of the New York-based rating agency.
Globe, the second-biggest telecom firm in the country, is one of the 243 rated companies and sovereigns worldwide that S&P named as potential candidates for an upgrade.
A rating or outlook upgrade tends to bring down the cost of the rated firm's borrowing as it indicated less risks, giving investors less reason to demand a higher return for their placements.
