England salvaged some pride after their Six Nations heartbreak by defeating Argentina to clinch a hat-trick of victories in the prestigious Hong Kong Sevens rugby tournament here.

Tries from Peter Richards, Simon Amor, Rob Thirlby and Saracens wing Richard Haughton handed England a 22-12 win against the Argentinians, who had upset the form book by beating New Zealand in the semi-finals.

The win gave England their third consecutive Hong Kong Sevens crown, and will ensure that they start as favourites to win next year's seven-a-side World Cup, which is to be staged in Hong Kong.
