The part-time left-arm spinner removed well-set Sanath Jayasuriya (51) and Thilan Samaraweera (53) to send Sri Lanka struggling at 186-4 at tea on the fifth and final day.
Sri Lanka now have to bat for a minimum 32 overs in the last session to avoid the first whitewash in a home Test series. They have already lost the first two matches at Galle and Kandy.
