Cape Town, South Africa (PANA) - The number of tuberculosis cases in South Africa is expected to double in the next three to five years due to HIV, national deputy health minister Renier Schoeman has revealed.
Schoeman, in a statement to mark World TB Day Wednesday, said it was estimated that about 55 percent of new adult TB cases in the country were co-infected with HIV.
TB is the most common cause of morbidity and mortality among people infected with HIV in the country.
