LAWYER for Xavier Chungu, Nicholas Chanda has urged Lusaka magistrate Bibiana Kearns to set his client free of the theft of motor vehicle charge.

This is in a case in which former intelligence chief Xavier Chungu is jointly charged with his former deputy Yotam Zulu, former finance permanent secretary Stella Chibanda and former finance secretary to the treasury Professor Ben Mweene with theft of motor vehicle.

The quartet is alleged to have stolen the tractors between February 1998 and January 2000.
