At the 2004 conference of the Society of Christian Ethics in Chicago, the Women's Caucus discussed issues of work and family balance across the life span of working academics. I was asked to present the graduate student viewpoint.

After going through my list of advisors and colleagues to contact, I realized only one of my female academic mentors has a child. Here I am, at the beginning of a PhD program with a husband and a two-year-old, and few resources to ask for advice.
