In a brave stand putting public ethics over football success, Texas State University President Denise Trauth fired athletics director Greg LaFleur and football coach Manny Matsakis over a dozen rules violations in the football program.

Although the 12 violations were minor, together they constituted a "troubling" pattern, officials said. "These reports and concerns over the management of our football program call for this action."
