(From South China Morning Post)
A bunch of Singapore publishing and PR types have just launched Crumbs - an online journal for the region's technology publishing industry.
A very strange site it is, too. Being Singaporean, the site's creators (a motley crew of public relations executives, or "guppies", as they call themselves) go out of their way to ensure the site dishes its dirt as politely as possible. In some cases, the gossip is so well disguised that even the subjects may not recognise themselves.
Here is one of the gems in its premier issue this month: "Where do you hang out in Hong Kong to catch a glimpse of some IT journalists, PR and marketing folk? Try Klong Bar & Grill, one of Wan Chai's trendiest Thai restaurants. Catch them there on Wednesday night (ladies night!)."
Sounds like an invitation to a zoo, which pretty much sums up Klong.
But the obvious question is why would anyone want to observe these people? After 25 San Miguels and a litre of Sambuca, even the most compelling technology commentators can become a little monotonous.
