Turkmenistan begins audit of southeastern natural gas reserves.

Turkmenistan has started the certification of "blue fuel" [natural gas] reserves in accordance with a decree "On concluding contracts on carrying out the audit of natural gas reserves in the fields of southeastern Turkmenistan" signed by the country's president, Saparmyrat Nyyazow in February [2004].

According to the Turkmen State News Service (TSNS), the Ministry of Oil and Gas and Mineral Resources of Turkmenistan has concluded contracts with international certification companies Degoliere and McNoton (USA), and Gaffney, Cline and Associates (UK) for a total sum of over 1.1m dollars.
