Bush defends Iraq war, warns of renewed offensive against terror.

President George W. Bush defended his order one year ago to invade Iraq and stressed US determination to stay on the offensive against terrorists around the world.

"The world is better off and the American people are more secure" because of the war, Bush told US troops who have served in Iraq and their families in a speech to mark the anniversary.

Without mentioning the failure to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, Bush insisted he had used the best intelligence available before ordering the March 20 invasion.
