Regular exercise may help prevent cognitive decline in elderly women, Dr. Kristine Yaffe said at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Neurology.

The study enrolled 5,925 women, aged 65 years or older, who were not cognitively impaired at baseline. The women who exercised the most over an 8-year period were the least likely to develop cognitive decline, as defined by a decrease of 3 points or more on repeat administration of a modified Mini-Mental Status Examination.
