THE spectacle of leaders of the 14-party Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition trooping in one-by-one for meetings with BN leader and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in the run-up to the general election is one of the more comforting sights of Malaysian democracy. Malaysian politics has always meant refining the art of maintaining surface calm against known, but unseen furious undercurrents to perfection or at least near-perfection.
