This is a revised version of a book first published in Spanish as La escuela de Chicago: Operacion Chile (Buenos Aires, 1989). It explores the origins of the so-called Chicago Boys, a group of economists who provided General Pinochet with a revolutionary economic project. At the end, the neo-liberal model introduced by them profoundly transformed Chile's economic, institutional, and even cultural physiognomy.
