Chinese leaders attend congress forum on Hong Kong basic law.

Beijing, 12 March: On the afternoon of 12 March, the Law Committee of the National People's Congress [NPC] Standing Committee, the Social and Legal Affairs Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference [CPPCC] National Committee and the Hong Kong Basic Law Committee of the NPC Standing Committee met at the Hong Kong Hall at the Great Hall of the People to mark the 14th anniversary of the promulgation of the Hong Kong Basic Law.

Present at the meeting were Wang Zhaoguo, member of the CCP Central Committee Political Bureau and vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee; Sheng Huaren, vice chairman and secretary general of the NPC Standing Committee; Tang Jiaxuan, state councillor; Liao Hui and Liu Yandong, vice chairmen of the CPPCC National Committee; members of the NPC Standing Committee Hong Kong Basic Law Committee; veteran comrades who took part in drafting the Basic Law; law experts; responsible persons of the State Council Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, the Central People's government Liaison Office in Hong Kong, the NPC Standing Committee Law Committee, and the CPPCC National Committee Social and Legal Affairs Committee and personages of departments concerned.
