Georgetown, Guyana: The Caribbean Community (Caricom) [on] Wednesday [10 March] announced that it had concluded a free trade agreement with Costa Rica.

Jamaica Prime Minister P.J. Patterson, the current Caricom chairman, and President Abel Pacheco of Costa Rica signed the accord in Kingston on Wednesday, making it the second free trade agreement the 15-member regional grouping has signed with a country in the wider Caribbean.

The ceremony was witnessed by a number of dignitaries, including Caricom Secretary-General Edwin Carrington and former Costa Rica President Dr Miquel Angel Rodeiquez.
