'KEEP GM crops out of Ireland' was the message Sinn Fein sent to the Government today.

This follows a decision by Environment Secretary Margaret Beckett to allow the growing of one specially modified maize crop for animal feed.

Gerry McHugh, Sinn Fein agricuture spokesman, said: "Whatever the decision of ministers in London about the commercial introduction of GM crops into Britain and whatever their reasons, Agriculture Minister Ian Pearson needs to listen to the clear message coming from farmers, consumer organisations and environmental groups as well as Sinn Fein …
