External debt hit $33bn

International Monetary Fund (IMF) said yesterday that it has endorsed the economic reform programme of the Federal Government called the National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (NEEDS).

Also, the Debt Management Office has disclosed that Nigeria's external debt has accumulated to about $32.8 billion as at December 31, 2003, representing an increase of about $2 billion from the previous figure of $30.99 billion.
