The Tajik Defence Ministry has denied media reports that military base talks between Russia and Tajikistan had failed. Iranian radio quoted Ramil Nodirov, Tajik deputy defence minister, as saying that almost all contentious issues had been solved. The following is an excerpt from a report by Iranian radio from Mashhad on 7 March, with subheadings inserted editorially:
