Concerns have been expressed about the impact of new rules on companies supplying door stewards in Aberdeen.
Councillors, the licensed trade and security firms fear the regulations will cut the number of bouncers, particularly part-timers, because of high licensing fees and training costs.
Under rules to be introduced by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) in November 2007, door stewards will have to pay GBP190 for a licence and up to GBP200 for training.
At present, door stewards in Aberdeen are regulated by the city council's licensing board.
A three-year licence costs GBP55 and training at Aberdeen College costs GBP70.
The new regulations, which are being introduced across the UK, mean that existing staff will not be allowed by law to work until they have completed an SIA-endorsed training scheme and secured a licence.
