A Scheme launched to crack down on thieves and antisocial behaviour in shops and businesses in the Banff area is poised for fresh impetus in the run-up to Christmas.

The Shopwatch project, steered by the local business association and the police, aims to put the brakes on shoplifters and clamp down on customers who cause problems.

Since the initiative was unveiled in June, limited progress has been made in setting up a network to share information between the partners.
