KUALA LUMPUR, Sun. - More than 500 youths did not report for the first batch of National Service training on Feb 16.
The National Service training council failed to contact most of them as they were believed to have moved. Letters sent to them were returned.
They have been given a second chance and will be allowed to join the second and third batches for training, failing which legal action will be taken against them.
National Service council member Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said today the council had failed to contact 6,820 of the 85,000 youths picked for national service training this year.
"The letters sent to them were also returned. If they fail to turn up for training we will have no choice but to take action against them," he said.
