THE Cabinet has approved in principal PLUS Expressways Bhd's proposed RM962 million lane expansion project to widen certain stretches of the North-South Expressway to three lanes from the existing two.

UEM Group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Wahid Omar said PLUS' proposal was presented to the Cabinet two months ago.

UEM Group owns 46.2 per cent of PLUS.

"I think the Cabinet has actually approved it in principal, but requested that we review the funding requirements," he said in an interview.
