ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS One concern the club had in making Bobby Hammock the starting catcher was how his slight frame (5-11,180) would hold up. Hammock spent the offseason bulking up but injured his knee and had surgery February 13. He should be back after eight to 10 spring games, but the injury reinforces how important it will be to spell Hammock. He can play third base or the outfield, so the team can keep his bat in the lineup when he's not catching.... G.M. Joe Garagiola Jr. got good reports on RF Danny Bautista this winter.
